President Obama signed The Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act today, leading towards a future of significantly reduced animal testing; benefiting animals, as well as humankind.
It has been infinitely proven that animal testing is not only inhumane, but also outdated, slow, more expensive and less efficient than the cutting edge, non-animal testing methods that have been developed and are used for determining how chemicals will impact humans.
The act unfortunately does not illegalize animal testing, however, it mandates that non-animal testing is developed, prioritized and used before animal testing is considered.
This legislature sets us on a better path, one which pushes us towards use of the latest science, protecting animals and ourselves, physically, economically and morally.
